Roach River

The Roach River along with the Moose River are the two major rivers entering Moosehead Lake. The Roach River starts from the dam at First Roach Pond and ends in Spencer Bay. The river is both fly fishing only & catch & release only. The pools near the dam on Lily Bay road (dam, dump & wardens pools) can get crowded when the fishing is good so we suggest exploring the lower pools if you are looking for some peace & quiet. The river is wadeable except for a few deep pools.

Below is a 22' landlocked salmon caught in 1991 before the river became "catch & release".
