Boat Launch on Indian Pond NW shore

Great boat launch for canoes, kayaks & small boats. Easy access to the end of West Outlet and Indian Pond. The ramp is very shallow and rocky. Best for boats which can be hand carried. The side road to the ramp as well as the ramp is part of the track bed of the Somerset Railroad. The bay to the west of the ramp is good for wildlife watching. Brook trout & smallmouth bass are plentiful depending on water temperatures.

Loons, eagles and waterfowl are common sights. Several beavers work this area and moose love the shallow marshy areas.

Campsites are available on a first come first served basis.

The road into this area is often in poor shape in May and June, check with the Moosehead Visitor's Center for current road conditions (207) 695-2702.
